Edits are still clicking along. I now have 5 chapters edited. Two of those are still making the crit buddies rounds, so there will be more revising, but the first three chapters are, dare I say it, POLISHED! Woohoo!! Well, let's be honest, I'm always going to find something else to tweak, but I think they are pretty decent. Finally. Now....I just need to get the other 20 chapters all nice and shiney and we are good to go. Ha!
I got some more research done on my up and coming WIP - I'm excited about it! Which is why I have been pushing myself to get the edits on the current WiP finished. Time to focus on something else!! :D
Doing great on the reading list also. I read Scott Westerfield's Uglies series this week. Loved them all! I've also started reading The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner. I'm enjoying it, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood for an historical right now, so I may go book hunting again. Actually, I need to go get the new Vampire Academy book. That will be my goal for next week :)
How is everyone else doing? Read anything good lately? Getting those manuscripts written and polished?
Oooo, and Kat over at Words, etc. introduced me to a fun, new way to waste time :D Making a fake book cover! Here are the two I ended up with (I like the first one best):
To make your own, here are the directions:
1 – Go to “Fake Name Generator” or click here.
The name that appears is your author name.
2 – Go to “Random Word Generator” or click here.
The word listed under “Random Verb” is your title.
3 – Go to “FlickrCC” or click here.
Type your title into the search box. The first photo that contains a person is your cover.
4 – Use Photoshop, Picnik, or similar to put it all together. Be sure to crop and/or zoom in.
5 – Post it to your site along with this text.
Have Fun!!!

I just read The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan - and stayed up late because I couldn't put it down. I'm on my first draft of my current wip so I wouldn't use the term "polished" but I'm having a blast with it. Good luck on the edits. :)
Ooo, a few people have mentioned that one to me. I'll have to get it, thanks!! :D
I don't have time to read right now. I miss it. I am heavily in editing, alas, woe is me :)
Actually, I enjoy editing... it's so satisfying, after just getting it all out, to come back and tweak it and watch it take shape.
I polish the darn thing and then it starts raining again... every time.
Congrats on the progress! It's got to be such a nice feeling to look at those chapters and say, "I like those how they are right now."
I'm always trying to go back and revise but I keep myself moving forward in the writing. I tell myself I can revise later, but I'll never get the chance to write draft 1 of this novel again.
okay the whole make a fake book cover was way too good. Thanks for that.
Congrats on getting all those chapter edits done.
Ooh, those fake book covers look like fun. I'm at work, but I might be able to try them tonight amidst the piano lessons, soccer games and GLEE. Squee! Glee!!!
Oh Michelle, you so have to get Blood Promise. I couldn't put it down. I love both Dimitri and Adrian, so I can't wait for the next book. Too bad it's not due out until May!!!!!
Congrats on the polished three chapters.
I'm with Kristi about the first draft. I have about 20,000 words more to go.
Congrats on all the editing!
I like the first book cover a little more as well. Embroider is an odd title for a book. Hmmm... I wonder what the genre of that would be...
:)
I like the elevator cover too. I wonder what she's hearing..... :O)
Congrats on the edits, it's always nice when those go well. Oh noooo! I love gadgets and doo-hickies so, I will have to work very hard to keep myself from visiting those cover design links -- really hard.
Hope you had a good Wednesday and an even better day tomorrow. I’ll see you around soon.
I have an award waiting for you at my blog!
