WIP Wednesday

Another great week! The poetry section of my NF book is now complete and with my agent. The book is now 63% finished - I have nine chapters left until it is done. I'm very excited. Partly because I am a little burned out on it and just want it done already :)

Edits on the YA are going slow, but getting there I think. I'm having a problem with pacing and too much telling (as I always do...I am really hoping I get the hang of that the first time around one of these days) :D

And I have an interesting new idea that I'm not sure I can pull off....but I'm eager to try. Another incentive to get the NF done because I've kind of put myself on restriction in regards to new projects until it is complete :)

How is everyone else doing?

Hi, Michelle. Thanks for stopping my blog today. (I saw where you joined.) I am also writing a YA that is more than half-way complete. It's amazing how much patience we must have when we're writing, editing or whatever other stage of the process we're in.

Sounds like things are going great, Michelle! Good luck with getting the NF done. As for me, I'm still plugging along with the edits on my YA. I can't wait to have it done with so I can start the query process! :D

63% done is such an exact number -- how cool is that?!

My WIP is pushed aside right now for revisions on my finished MS *sigh*

And, congrats on the new idea. Those are the best!

I'm glad to hear that you're making progress! I can't wait to hear more, and you've piqued my curiosity about this new project of yours. Hurry, hurry, hurry with this current one! ;)

As for me, I just hit the 20k mark on the WiP, and I'm at it again this week. The goal is to be halfway done (50k) before September rolls around and I have to return to school.

Hope you're having a great week!

Hi Heather! You are so right. My critique buddies are forever trying to get me to be more patient, to make sure my ms is as polished as possible before I start querying. I always want to jump the gun :)

Bonny - good luck on your edits! I'm with you, I can't wait to be done :D

Tess - LOL Yeah, it is :D I like seeing that percentage number rise, so I always recalculate it when I finish a new chapter. I currently have 15/24 chapters done :)

Weronika- I'm having a great week so far, thanks! Sept is my goal also. I'd really like to be done with my NF book by then so I can focus on fiction for a while :)

N.W.A. - Thanks so much!

Good luck on your projects everyone! Happy Writing!

Congrats on getting so much done with your NF project! And having a new idea to play with while you finish your NF book is awesome too:)

This post resonated with me, Michelle. I started out as a short story writer and it's still my first love, so I struggle with the pacing of my novels. They can be too rushed, guess why.

Thanks everyone! And Suzanne, thanks again so much for the quote :)

Conda - I totally understand. I started out writing historicals, which are typically much slower paced ...probably why my pacing tends to be too slow when it comes to trying to write YAs :)

Hello Michelle. Thanks for joining my blog. I'm excited to read your work. This weekend I hope to hit
40k on my third general fiction novel. I'm also reworking a YA and searching for an agent.

Best,

Lori

Hi Lori! Thanks for joining and congrats on all the wordage! If you haven't checked out Querytracker.net yet, I highly recommend it. Great site for agent searching and a terrific forum to boot! :)
