WIP Wednesday

Quote of the Day:
If you're silent for a long time, people just arrive in your mind.
~Alice Walker

I have had a truly awesome week. First off, I finished my YA Urban Fantasy!!! (pause for party dance)

Okay, well, I have to go back and add the rest of that boxing thread I posted in my teaser last week and tweak the timeline a bit :D but the main story is done, typed, and saved and I typed those awesome, wonderful words "THE END." Ahhh, what a rush! It was a grand moment :D

I'm doing pretty well in the non-fiction department. Now that the YA is done, I am busting my buns on the NF (and it really helps to have my agent (how I love those words) waiting on more chapters from me) :D

I currently have 7 out of 25 chapters finished - so I completed two new chapters this week and went back through the other chapters and got my formatting all nice and consistent. So I am pretty pleased with my progress.

I have two new story ideas (YA Urban Fantasy) and a revamp for my first novel idea, and they are getting pretty insistent, but I refuse to touch them until I get the new thread I need in my current WIP finished so I can send it to my crit buddies :) Pesky little characters are starting to keep me up nights though. I might have to do something about them soon.

How is everyone else doing?

Congrats on getting done!!! That's always an awesome feeling. I just finished mine as well, but it's pretty rough so the edits are going to take awhile.

LOL Tess, yeah it's slow going sometimes huh :)

And congrats on finishing B.J.! My edits will take a while also, though I'm hoping they will be done by the end of Sept. So far the crits I've gotten back haven't been to horrible, so I'm hopeful! :D

Congrats. You're obviously kickin' butt and taking names. That's neat though, that you go back and forth between fiction and non-fiction. I would be so bad at non-fiction. I'd be stressing so badly about getting everything exactly right. Good thing people like you can do it for me :)

I've been working on the same five chapters for a good year (with breaks in between), so I'm really pushing myself to move on to the rest of the manuscript!! My goal is to have the rough draft finished by September, which is definitely possible...about two chapters a week. Since I have today off (Canada Day!) I hope to start on a new chapter....and I'm terrified. I've been sailing along in the familiar and comfortable, revising, revising, revising.
It's time to get creative again :)

I was scratching my head the other day trying to figure out your "agented" status when your book isn't finished.

Five minutes later, I made the connection that it was non-fiction. Don't mind me. I'm a little slow sometimes. They don't let me out very often. :-)

Congrats on the completion!

Michelle, that's awesome news. Congratulations!

What is your NF about?

As for me, I'm plugging along.

Awesome job Michelle. I have a very noisy cast of characters chatting away in my head - so I need to push forward and get some writing done...SOON.

Yay for finishing!!! That is so great. I finished mine awhile ago. Now I'm rewriting it. This just never ends, seriously.

So glad to know that I'm not the only one being pestered by characters. Nice to meet you, and I think you are inspiring me to start writing more again, so thx!

I remember the crazy lift -- like my head was about to float away from the rest of me -- that occurred when I first realized I had a manuscript. Like, a whole, finished, real first manuscript.

Since then, though, I've just been a writer. No epiphanies. No head/body separating moments. Just deadlines, and the work of writing. But, still, it's always a great feeling to get to the end of a project.
