WIP Thursday

As yesterday was my turn on our Blog Chain, WIP Wednesday got bumped a day :D Well, I actually made a bit of progress this week. I finished two more chapters in my non-fiction book and started two more. I now have 10 chapters finished so I am 40% done. Still a long ways to go but I feel like I am making some headway.

Also, I was able to add two more books to my reading list for the year. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I enjoyed both books and look forward to the sequels, though it took me about 100 pages to get into each of them.

My critters have been going through my YA Urban Fantasy and as usual, my beginning chapters need to be mulched and revised....I am putting that on hold until I get a little farther along in the NF. For now, I'll let the shreddage commence and worry about piecing it back together later :) Seriously though, I am so grateful for incredible critique buddies that let me know exactly what needs work. I don't know what I'd do without them :)

How is everyone else doing on their projects?

Is "ugh" a good enough answer? :)

I'm almost finished City of Glass (the final in the Mortal Instruments series). The series did have a slow start, but I think you'll find the rest of the trilogy worth it. But if you're trying to get writing projects done, be warned. I ended up staying up until 2am last night reading instead of doing what I was supposed to be doing--writing (or sleeping). :)

Critics who are really willing to tell you what needs work are worth their weight in gold, aren’t they? One of the people I had look over my manuscript actually found a major plot error right before I sent it into the publisher. :O
Thanks for following my blog, btw. It’s always great to connect with more writers. :)

I don't have any projects. I write little bits of nothing. I can't wait for the day when I have an idea worth dedicating myself to.

Good luck with your WIP. :)

Thanks Christine! I can't wait until it's done!! :D

Cole - yes, yes it is :) But I hope it gets better!

FictionGroupie - LOL yeah, I know...I'm amazed I got any writing done. Once I got into both of those books, I didn't do much else :D

Emily - yes, I really don't know what I'd do without my crit buddies. I love to have people tell me they love my work, but it is absolutely priceless to have someone who will tell you "Okay, this part just needs to go! Tighten this up - this makes no sense - fix this, revise this, change this, and now it looks good!" :D And thanks for stopping by!!

Time is running away - sometimes a nice long break precedes a fabulous project! I finished my last novel almost two years ago. I didn't finish another one until a couple months ago. I had started several, but just hadn't fallen in love with anything until I had the idea for the book I just finished. Good luck!

Hi Michelle. Thanks for following my blog. I love your funnies! I've decided I should buy some silly books so I can take laugh breaks every day. Gotta be worthwhile.
My WIP is a YA fantasy. I'm four chapters into a rewrite, and I'm feeling pretty good about how it is going (it helps that my crit buddies are liking it, too). I think what I'm adding is depth to the characters so the story feels like it has more flesh on the bones compared to the first draft.
Happy writing all!

Barrie- Yeah, I like "mulched." It's pretty accurate too LOL

Tricia - thanks for stopping by! I highly recommend laughing every day. Especially when revising. It really helps :D Good luck on the revisions!

Good for you. I managed to get nothing done this past week. Will hopefully make up for it next week. :)
