WIP Wednesday and a Reading List Update

Quote of the Day:
You don't write because you want to say something; you write because you've got something to say.
~F. Scott Fitzgerald

This week seemed like a slow week, but I did actually get some work done. I've been working on my non fiction book - I am aiming to have my proposal done by June 1st so I can begin querying. I was able to finish my two sample chapters this week, complete with critiques and edits. I am so proud :D

In fiction news, work was still slow, but I did get a little bit accomplished. Here are the updated stats....

Notebook pages filled: 146 (front and back - total of course, not just this week) :D

Pens drained dry: still 5, but #6 is getting low

Approximate total word count: 43,800/70,000 = 63% complete

READING LIST 2009 UPDATE

Yes, that's right, I finally read another book! Wahoo! Yesterday, I received my long awaited copy of Charlaine Harris's new Sookie Stackhouse book, Dead and Gone. I started reading after dinner and finished it around 1 this morning. LOVED IT! *sigh* now I have to wait for the next one :D I'm not sure what number this is on my list (I think it's 18) but I'll post this and go check and list it once I find out. (Just checked....Dead and Gone makes #19) :D

How is everyone else doing with their projects and reading?

Ah-ha - I love that you read the book in one night - I have been known to do that too and my husband always think that I am a nut. LOL, I guess I am;)

Congrats on the forward progress - especially on the non-fiction book - it sounds like a great project!

Dumbledore dies? Oh, no! I can't believe you spoiled that for me. Sorry, I couldn't even type that without laughing. Great pic.

It's been forever since I've read a book in one day/night. I just don't have the time.

My current read: Lord of the Rings trilogy (for the gazillionth time) while I wait for the next in the Stephanie Plum series. Woo-hoo!

Congrats on your progress so far.

Good progress! And another humbling moment for me as I have not read in a few days. In my defense I started a book over the weekend!

Projects and books are great. Now, I just need to figure out a way to stop time so I can sneak in a few more hours without upsetting the time-space thingy. :D

Congrats on your progress - and the reading time! I love how you include your pen mortality count...

My projects are slowly coming along. I'm struggling with a short story at the moment, and balancing my editing time with writing time (only so many hours in the night!).

I have a couple books going too - Fast Women by Jennifer Cruisie being my current "bedtime book" - she's hilarious, as always.

Sounds like good progress. As far as writing, I'm on track for the week, only 5,000 words to go to meet my quota. Yay!

Reading...I've been slacking. I think my last book put me at 17 or 18 for this year. Happy writing!

Nice job!

I just finished reading a book. It was so-so but I still managed to finish it in two days. Explain that. LOL!

Hmmm...nicely done this week. As for me - I am almost done with WIntergirls...so that's something. As for writing - well you read my psot, so you know how that is going. THe NF project is in the hands of my betas...so we'll see how that goes!

Wooho! Congrats!
I just read an old Linda Howard yesterday. Like you, I devoured it in one day.
Today I'm reading a historical romance which is pretty good but probably won't end up being an all-nighter. ;-)
Writing is slower, but coming along.

I just started "Rumors" in The Luxe series. I want to know what happens to the characters! #1 left too many unsolved situations.
And yesterday I read "Wings" by Aprilynne Pike, which also left me wanting more. I have a huge list to read these next few days, but I also need to work on my novel, and yes, there are four little ones who call me mama and need me. Oh well!

Great writing progress going on, love the Pens Drained statistic. I'm currently reading Elizabeth Berg's Home Safe, and working on research for a nonfiction project. Enjoyed browsing here!

That is great you'll be querying on your nf book soon. I hope you get a ton of bites.

I am between books right now. Kind of trying to catch up on a a bunch of stuff before I start something new. My book count for the year is probably 4 or 5. Not good!
