Thirty-three Word Thursday :) - A Good Reason NOT to Write for a Trend
It is raining. I am tempted to write a poem. But I remember what it said on one rejection slip: After a heavy rainfall, poems titled "Rain" pour in from across the nation.
I took a writing class not that long ago and there was a guy in the class who kept asking about what was selling because he wanted his work to sell. He didn't care if it was YA, or non fiction, he was going to write a book in the hottest trend.
Considering it takes most authors at least a year plus just to get your book to market, assuming you already have an agent, and your book is really good, and your really lucky . . . trends don't really matter. Write something that moves you.
So true!!! It's taking me so long to write this book, that I'm hoping that by the time I finally finish my story, my currently-out-of-trend genre will be back in style again. LOL!

Haha, as someone writing a paranormal YA (the idea came to me a long time ago, give me a break!) I worry about just such things.
