What Do You Do?

So...I'm feeling the need to streamline, cut down on things, simplify. I have a website - well, 3 actually (one for me and the two pen names I was considering - just in case I needed them :) ). But I don't do anything with them. Everything is pretty much on my blog anyway and more people come to my blog. Soooo, I'm thinking I might just combine everything over here instead of trying to maintain different sites.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you guys have separate sites or do you just keep everything in one spot?

Am I feeling the need to streamline? That's funny...

I gave my kids cereal for breakfast and they acted like I was feeding them gruel. Streamline? I'm feeling like I need little elves to do all of my jobs for me. That would be the easiest way to get this all done.

On that note, I teach Mass Communications (and write). My thoughts: build a platform and live on it. Make sure you can manage your space and keep clear of clutter. That should work.

Right?

Websites are tools, nothing more. If you're using the tool (and it's working for you), you should keep it around. If not, then get rid of it. I only have the one site, but at this point that's all I need. It goes back to what you need and what will help you get done what you want.

I host my blog at my own domain and use it as my website. But then I don't have three names I publish under. (I don't even have one I currently publish under. some day.)

It's all what works best for you. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to host my old website at my custom domain but I could figure out how to switch my blog over. And once Blogger brought in that ability to have multiple pages it only made sense to use it as my site.

The blog is def my biggest social network draw, and I don't have a website, but I always hear you need to keep at least one if you're published, because not everyone likes to read blogs. I'm no expert, though.

Simplifying is ALWAYS best. :o) Good luck, Michelle! :o)

I have a separate website for myself and my books. The reason is because they are static. I put stuff on them and update like, quarterly, and I'm good.

The blog is a living, breathing, changing identity. It's where people can find ME, not find out ABOUT ME. You know?

I've been simplifying too. It feels so good. It's nice getting rid of some of the extra stress in my life ;)

Good luck with this. I know you'll make a perfect decision that is right for you and your site(s). ;)
