Blog Chain - Illustrating the Literary World

Blog Chain time again! This topic was chosen by the lovely Amparo who says:

Confession: I can't draw to save my life. *sigh* If you had some seriously epic drawing skills (or if you already have them) which published book would you have loved to illustrate? Why does that book--and its characters/premise--strike you as something you'd love to work on as an artist?

To be honest....I have no idea lol But it would most likely be a fairy tale-type story or one of the old epics like Sir Gawain and the Green Knight or King Arthur. Something with magic and beautiful gowns and princesses and knights. Mermaids perhaps. Or a fairy queen.

One of my favorite things about reading fairy tales was looking at the gorgeous artwork. I'll buy a book for the artwork alone, whether or not I ever read the story.

If I had the ability to draw (and sadly, I really really do NOT), I'd want to bring to life something fantastical and other-worldly - one of the Narnia books maybe, or A Wrinkle in Time. Lord of the Rings. Or my To Trust a Thief. I have this vision in my head of Min and Bryant sitting near her favorite greenhouse. There is a huge weeping willow she sits beneath, gazing out at a pond, in some stunning ballgown, while her hero sits beside her in all his Victorian handsomeness :) I think it would make a beautiful painting :)

How about you? Can you draw? If you could, what story would you want to illustrate?

Don't forget to check out Demitria's post from Friday and head to Alyson's tomorrow! :)

Book Blitz and Giveaway!! Triangles by Kimberly Ann Miller

Triangles
by Kimberly Ann Miller
Release Date: 06/18/13
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press

Summary from Goodreads:
A cruise ship. A beautiful island. Two sexy guys. What could possibly go wrong?

In the Bermuda Triangle—a lot.

Hoping to leave behind the reminders of her crappy life--her father's death years ago, her mother's medical problems, and the loser who’s practically stalking her--seventeen-year-old Autumn Taylor hops on a ship with her sister for a little distraction. When she wakes up in the Bermuda Triangle, she fears she's gone nuts for more than one reason: that loser’s suddenly claiming they're a happy couple... a hot guy is wrapping his arms around her and saying "Happy Anniversary"... and suddenly, she’s full of bruises, losing her hair, and getting IV medication. Autumn visits the ship's doctor, hoping for a pill or a shot to make the craziness go away. Instead, she's warned that these "alternate realities" could become permanent.

She just has to ask herself one question—how the hell is she going to get out of this mess?

***Excerpt***

“Are you all right, honey?”

I opened my eyes. An attractive young woman with red hair and brilliant
green eyes was looking at me. What I thought was salt water from the
ocean must have been tears because my face was the only one nearby that
was wet. I glanced at her concerned expression and smiled. “Yes, thank
you. I’m fine.” I swiped away a tear with my finger. “Just…everything’s
fine.”

She stepped closer and lowered her voice. “This cruise will change
your life. Nothing will be the same when it’s over, but it will be worth it.
You’ll see.” Her emerald eyes twinkled, and she nodded her head once.

I forced a laugh to be polite. “Thanks. Enjoy your cruise.”

What a weirdo. What did that even mean? How could a cruise change
my life? I moved from my spot to avoid more weirdness from her and
found a less populated area at the back of the ship. New York and New
Jersey disappeared behind us as we charged toward Bermuda and away
from the mess my life had become.

A cloud covered the retreating sun, sending shivers through me. A
white-haired lady dropped her purse and lots of change tumbled out. A
penny hit my foot and landed on tails.

My cell phone buzzed. I pulled it from my pocket. I had thirteen
messages and thirteen texts. How would Nisha survive the next five days
without hearing from me? I took care of the messages and told her I’d call
her when we got back to Jersey.

Even though I was not very superstitious, a bad feeling crawled into
the pit of my stomach and took up residence.

knew what I was leaving behind, but what was I floating toward?

Kimberly Miller received Bachelor's degrees from Georgian Court University and Rutgers University and a Master's degree from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She is an avid reader and particularly enjoys true crime and
young adult novels. She grew up in New Jersey and currently resides in Monmouth County with her husband and three cats. When she’s not writing, she loves to travel to sunny islands where she snorkels by day and stargazes by night. She always takes her Nook with her.

Cover Reveal and Giveaway for Ednah Walters' Immortals!

COVER REVEAL!!! And a giveaway!!

In just a bit :D First, a bit about the book...

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…

Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology but that doesn’t stop her from falling hard for him. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her or that she saved him by making a deal with Norns—Norse destiny deities—the same Norns who have now erased his memories of their past together to punish her.

So Raine comes up with a plan...

She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again. But before Raine can put her plan into action, the Norns return. This time, they demand she protects Eirik Seville, her best friend since childhood, from an evil so dark even the Norns are scared. But you know what they say about well-laid plans…

Caught between protecting Eirik and convincing the stubborn, cocky Torin St. James that the two of them are meant to be together, Raine's life slowly unravels. Friendships are tested. Enemies become allies. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

Blog Chains and Summer Flings

I'm posting on time this round! Apparently miracles do actually happen :D

This round's topic was chosen by the lovely Katrina who wants to know:

Have you ever written a summer fling? Or are all your fictional relationships the deep, forever kind? If you did write one, how would it begin (the meet cute)? Where would it be set?

I haven't ever written a summer fling. My relationships are all the deep, forever kind. To be honest, I don't know if I ever could write a summer fling lol I'm too much of a hopeless romantic that wants that all-consuming, lasts-for-infinity type of love :)

If I HAD to write one, it would probably be set in some vacation setting....a tropical island or Irish castle....something where the reason the couple are there in the first place is temporary and something they will HAVE to end no matter how they feel about it.

Or maybe it could be some dramatic situation - lost in the woods, broken down car, snowed in somewhere, and one member of the couple could rescue the other one :) And after a few fun days holed up somewhere, they'd go back to their regular lives.

I gotta be honest though, even in imagining these situations my mind is going to the "but what if a year later they met up again" scenarios lol I just can't leave love alone :)

How about you? Writers, what type of relationships do you most often write about? Readers, what types of relationships do you like reading about? Do you like the fun summer flings or do you prefer your favorite characters to stay together forever?

Don't forget to check out Demitria's answer from Friday and be sure to stop by Alyson's tomorrow!
