The first essential is...Don't wait for an idea. Start writing something and the ideas will come. You have to turn the faucet on before the water starts to flow."
When I was in school, this was so true! I would just write and the story/essay/whatever would just pour out. It's still somewhat true, but there's a bit of mulling-it-over and pre-planning now too.

ReplyDeleteBrilliant quote!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a true statement!
ReplyDeleteHow true - just get something - anything!!! - on the page. You can always edit/revise it later. But you can't edit a blank piece of paper.
ReplyDeleteso true, you can never have an ending without a beginning.
ReplyDeleteOh, excellent quote! =)
ReplyDeleteGreat quote, Michelle! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteTrue. I often need to be in the mood to have ideas, and nothing gets my creative juices flowing like sitting down to write.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quote!
Once the faucet is flow, I've got no complaint. :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes me smile! Thankfully my head holds far more ideas than I can use at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, this is so good! I've always thought along these lines but never said it quite so nicely. Thanks for the encouragement:)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Loved this! And it's so true.
ReplyDeleteMany people who say they want to write seem reluctant to sit down and actually do it...actually turn the water on and write.
Which reminds me, I need to get back to actually writing. I've been editing too much lately.
Great post!
Ha! Love this quote!!!
